Write for Us – Farming, Agriculture, Livestock & Off-Grid

Rediscover Rural helps people leave the city, buy land and build a life in the country. Our readers are planning their first homestead, raising their first flock of chickens or figuring out how to go off-grid, and they rely on us for honest advice written from real experience.

We welcome contributions from people who have actually done the work: farmers, ranchers, homesteaders, off-grid builders, rural landowners and agricultural professionals. If you’ve learned something the hard way that could save our readers time or money, we’d love to hear from you.

Who Our Readers Are

  • City families planning a move to the country
  • First-time land buyers and new homesteaders
  • Small-scale farmers and backyard livestock keepers
  • People working toward self-sufficiency and off-grid living
  • Anyone curious about rural life and traditions

Every article we publish should answer a real question one of these readers has.

What Makes a Good Submission

Every article is reviewed by our editorial team before it's published. Strong submissions:

  • Come from first-hand experience. Tell us what you've actually built, raised, grown or learned on your own land. Specific details and real numbers beat general advice.
  • Are original. The article must be your own work and not published anywhere else.
  • Are accurate. Facts, laws and statistics should be correct and linked to credible sources such as USDA, extension offices or state agencies.
  • Put readers first. Write to help the reader, not to rank for keywords or promote a product.
  • Are practical. Step-by-step guides, costs, mistakes to avoid and lessons learned perform best.
  • Are easy to read. Clear headings, short paragraphs and plain language.

Using AI Tools

If you use AI tools during writing, you're responsible for checking every fact and making sure the final piece reflects your own knowledge and voice. Unedited, mass-produced content will be declined.

Images

Original photos of your farm, animals, garden or off-grid setup are strongly encouraged. Any other images must be royalty-free and credited where required.

Our Link Policy

We want every link on Rediscover Rural to be useful to our readers. Please keep these points in mind:

  • Links should add value. Link to helpful sources, studies, tools or resources that support your article.
  • One author link. You can include one link to your website or profile in your author bio, and one relevant link within the article if it fits naturally.
  • Natural anchor text. Use clear, descriptive anchor text that tells readers where the link goes. Exact-match keyword anchors will be edited.
  • Relevant websites only. Linked sites must relate to farming, agriculture, livestock, homesteading, off-grid living or rural life, and must not fall under our restricted topics.
  • Editorial review. Our team reviews every link and may edit, replace or remove any link that doesn't meet our standards.

Sponsored Content

We may occasionally publish sponsored content if it's genuinely useful to our readers and fits our topics. Sponsored articles are:

  • Clearly labeled "Sponsored" at the top of the article
  • Reviewed and edited by our team like any other article
  • Published with all links marked rel="sponsored"

To ask about sponsorship, use "Sponsored Content" in your email subject line.

  • Casino, gambling, betting or lottery sites
  • CBD, cannabis, vape or tobacco products
